What this chrome actually does

The menu structure is shipped and frozen — these three differ in look and feel and nothing else. Everything below is live in this page, not a picture of it: hover or tab into the header above and the menus open with no JavaScript anywhere in the file.

01The parent is marked, not just the child This is /ops/runs — is-current sits on Admin and on Runs.

02On a phone they are not dropdowns :hover on a touchscreen is whatever the browser decides a tap meant, so they unfold as labelled sections in the drawer. Left: closed. Right: open.

03The avatar never breaks Initials on a coloured disc unless a photo is set. Never a silhouette, never a broken image.

04A photo, when there is one The same button, same size, same disc.

05“Getting set up” disappears once onboarding is finished Left: new staff. Right: the same menu after completion — hidden, not revoked, so any link already sent still works.
